HedeBaltic builds it's business areas on the activities started in Denmark for more than 140 years ago. In 1866 a group of visionary men led by E. M. Dalgas took an initiative which was to have great significance for the development of Danish society as we know it today. With the establishment of Det Danske Hedeselskabet, DDH, the foundation was laid for an enterprise which from its beginnings contributed extensively to the reclamation of the Danish heaths, which is the origin of the company's name, "the Danish Heath Society". The reclamation of land subsequently led to activities such as meadow irrigation and the planting of forest and shelter belts, and the company thereby contributed significantly to the development of society. Since that time the company has developed into one of the leading enterprises in the field of nature and the environment both in Denmark and abroad. DDH's roots go back to a time of upheaval characterised by a wealth of new ideas, a strong sense of commitment within society and considerable development of know-how and technology. At DDH we are proud of the company's history and stand by the values which formed the basis of the establishment of the company 135 years ago, and we will continue to strive to further development of the company in the same spirit.
